Geneforce, the Next Generation Episode 4: Gates of Heaven, Depths of Hell

Ouranos: *He glances back, seeing Daitengu disappear. He locks his gaze on Vein for a tense moment before returning his attention to where the group was heading. Ouranos had to be careful in this situation, especially because it involved Matear. Ouranos' earlier indecisiveness would probably make him seem more likely to betray the cause. And he didn't need that.* ~What would Iodes do...?~

Xenon: Very well... *She looks as though she was going to say something else, but she held her toungue. No matter what, she had to remember that this woman was not her mother. The throne doors creak open as a lost soul cautiously enters, probably to escort her to her quarters. Xenon picked up her scythe and quietly walked after the lost spirit.*

Ashura: *Groggily, he struggles to stand.* How about... we start with your motive? *He clutches the wall for support.* Why are you doing this? All of this? It doesn't seem very... beneficial for your species.

Master Quin: *He sees Garm and points at Xanthos' still body.* Dispose of this Shinigami, then return here at once. The capture of Daitengu may be sooner upon us then we originally thought...

Iodes: *Spotting a nearby group of thunderdead, she charged towards them, her agility the only thing preventing an untimely death by black Thunder God lightning. She acrobatically leaped over the group before striking from behind. Her elbow twisted into their spines and she winced as said spines began to crack. But Iodes knew she was running out of steam. And fast. Even with the new arrivals, the battle seemed endless. Knock down a thunderdead, and it just picks up its pieces to attack you again. Try to destroy a Corpusle, and it's body would remain inert for a few seconds before it reformed into its gelatinous shape. Both of them could recover. The heroes had no such luck. Iodes fell to a knee, her stamina nearly depleted.*

Kyra: *She tries to block Lightning with her Chaos blade once more, but the SABER mows her over. Literally. Squished into an indentation in the earth, Kyra could only groan as imprinted hoofprints covered her body.* Why me...?

Lindsay: *She bursts past the doctors, slamming her hands down on Saber's bed.* Talk, Offworlder!! Who are you and why are your buddies trashing our planet?!
Antonio: *He smiled as he watched from outside. Apparently, Lindsay was stronger than she looked, throwing off groups of doctors that tried to hold her down with ease.* Maybe now we can unravel this mystery...

Raem: *he looks over and sees a Thunderdead about to attack Iodes. He runs through the enemies and leaps over Iodes. He then skewers the Thunderdead with Ashbringer and rips up, slicing it completely in half. He then puts Iodes's arm around his shoulders and helps her up* I'm not gonna let you die here, Iodes! *he carries Iodes out of there, Thunderdead and Corpulses in hot pursuit.*

Mataer: *his group finally arrived to their destination. Twin black gates.* Gentlemen, I give you the Gates of Death. It is through here that we might be able to enter Purgatory, the realm of Judgement. And then....to the Gates of Heaven. Once through there, its a straight shot to Darris Karlan, the Realm of the Gods. And then...our vengeance! *he goes forward and opens the doors.* COME! OUR DESTINY AWAITS US!
*In Purgatory, the Shinigami and Angels begin to scramble. Intruders where there. Near Mystess, a Shinigami yells out an order*
Shinigami: ALL SHINIGAMI! WE'RE BEING INVADED! ITS RAEM HADESSON! SCRAMBLE!

Bonesaw: *he runs over to Kyra and picks her up out of the ground before leaping into the air.* You alright?
Ripper: *he is cut appart by the attack. His head, however, floats off the ground, glares at Ryuusei, and then flies back up to Bonesaw.*
Bonesaw: Ripper, how you holding up?
Ripper:.....
Bonesaw: Fine. Don't answer.

Helios: *he gets up, clutching his leg. He had hurt it during the fight.*

Saber: *he snaps out of he grogginess and looks around. He then looks right at Lindsay.* A Phantasian? This must be....XANTHOS! *he looks around, but then remembers what happened.* Oh....Steam! *he looks over and sees Steam in the bed across from him.* Oh, thank the gods! *now, his attention is directed at Lindsay.* My buddies? What are you talking about? Wait....Is there a Celestio-sapian on this planet with flame-patterned skin and a large greatsword that looks like its made of fire?! Or a small cat/wolf with thunder and electricity coming out from his fur?!

Enkelados:.....very well then. I see conversation is beyond either of us. *he stands up and draws his flaming katana.* My heat....will cut you all down.
Zeke: Bring it on!
Fai Zheng: You seem honorable. I will fight you with my all.
Neir: Don't forget me!
Gashka: Me too!
Enkelados: Your brazen overconfidence will be your downfall...*he dashes at amazing speeds, leaving a trail of fire behind him as he goes to attack Heake.*
Zeke: HEAKE! WATCH OUT!

Beowulf: *His ears move slightly, picking up the sounds of Iodes's fight. He skids to a stop, turns around and dashes back to where he left them.*
Zora: Raem! Get her to safety! I'll hold off these guys. *Her fur becomes charged with electricity as she sends a shock wave out after the thunderdead. Mixed in with the electricity was ice.She follows up by using her electricity to stimulate her muscles, increasing her speed so she can attack behind. If one would think she wasn't related to Xanthos, they'd find themselves wrong now*
Blastion: You remind me of someone...
Zora: I better. Now, are you gonna help me? Or make me do this on my own?
Blastion: *he charges a ball of magma and throws it at the hoard*

Garm: *he looks to the Shinigami, then to Master Quin* Yes, sir. *the lava on his shoulders creeps down his arms, forming two lances of hardened lava. He stops when he sees who it really is.* Xanthos?! *He turns back to Quin* Sir, I can-
Sven: *he holds his staff out and he begins to take control of Garm* No disobeying newbie~ It wouldn't look good for you, or Master Quin.
Garm: . . . .Of course.

Charisma: *She turns to a figure who was sitting quietly in the shadows* She has a long journey ahead of her... I hope she uses what she will learn to the best of her ability.
???: If she is like you, she will. Alternate world of not...

[Near Concordia]

Lightning came to a stop as Bonesaw and Kyra leaped away. As for Ryuusei, the shuriken came back, and he grabbed it. "Retreating? Good idea." Ryuusei taunted.

[Revolution]

"They don't deserve it!" Rufus shouted, again trying to free his leg.

"All of them?" Dr. Cherubim asked. He knew Rufus couldn't fight that logic.

"I planned to take out those responsible!" Rufus attempted to defend himself. "Those in power, those that used their voice against YOUR kind, Dieu!"

Iodes: *She clenches a fist, cursing herself for being so helpless. Wasn't that the reason why she learned the Paths of Madness? To gain the power to protect others? She closes her eyes, imagining the fighting through what she heard. Could the team really hold out long enough to beat both the Corpusle AND the thunderdead?*
Alethia: *She gathers magic particles and clumps them to Blastion's magma-ball, making the sphere fly around wildly, not unlike a meteor.*

Master Quin: ...Well? What are you waiting for? Dispose of it!
Kulen: *He waits to see Garm's decision.*

Ouranos: *He roars, feeling his Chaos infection beginning to take hold once more. Black lightning surges from his body, forming several hands of chaotic lightning. The hands grab a nearby Shinigami, bringing the death god close to Ouranos' face. The only thing the Shinigami saw was a pair of golden eyes from the shadows of Ouranos' hood. The catwolf snarled ferally.* The Gates of Heaven. Where are they?!?

Kyra: Ehehe... been better. *She studies Ripper and Ryuusei.* We need a plan. Those two are two evenly matched, and it's taking everything I've got to keep the other one out of the mess... *She points at Lightning.* Any ideas?

Ashura: But, who are you to decide everyone else's fate? They have families!! They have kids!! Why would you take a kid's future like that?!?

Lindsay: No, I've seen neither... but maybe this will help? *She turns on the television, where a news reporter is reporting the recent Demon Hunter attacks and the mysterious Angel. Several pictures of the Demon Hunters are seen on the screen.*

Heake: *She cannot react in time and is hit full force. She grunts as she crashes into a wall, her body now limp.*

[Near Concordia]

Wary of Kyra, Lightning shook her head. "It is never a good idea to battle a SABER gone Ascendance unless you want to get deleted."

[Revolution]

"They're better off without their bastards for parents!" Rufus shouted, the veins in his eyes clearly visible. Those were not the eyes of a scholar; they were the eyes of a destroyed man.

"... Someone prepare a padded cell." Dr. Cherubim ordered in a deadpan manner.

Saber: Those are...Oh no. I remember seeing them when I was held prisoner! Those are demon hunters that have been hunting my friends! They're no friends of mine! They took something from me and Steam...I have to get that thing back...

*The Shinigami manages to choke out a shrill squeal of terror from Ouranos's form. He falls over and tries to scramble away, only to have one of Mataer's blades put through his leg.*
Mataer: I believe he asked you a question.
Shinigami: GAH! OKAY OKAY!....THEY'RE INSIDE THE JUDGEMENT HALL!
Mataer: Very good. *he stabs the Shinigami with two more of his blades and then uses them to tear the shinigami in half.* Time to pay Heaven a little visit...

Bonesaw: Grrr....I have no idea what to do. This is too out of hand.
Ripper: *his head flies out from Bonesaw's hands and reforms his slender body as he stands there, ready to face off against Ryuusei again.*

Raem: We need to get out of here...but I lost track of those new guys that came to aid us. Alethia, can you give us directions to the Iciaura branch's headquarters?! We can't beat all these thunderdead and corpulses!

Enkelados: *he slices his blade in the air, causing magma and red Shifter fluid to fly off the blade. He then sheaths his blade and crouches, ready to strike again.* If you cannot beat me, then you are no match for Porphyrion or Lord Boethia...
Zeke: *he dashes at Enkelados* Soru....*he warps and appears above Enkelados* GAUSS SHOTGUN! *he lets out a powerful kick with his handlike claws on his feet open so each claw would stab. However, Enkelados draws his blade from the sheath in a slicing motion so quickly that he countered Zeke's attack, flinging him back with the wave of heat that came with the slice.*
Fai Zheng: Quick-draw style swordsmanship...that's going to be a handful...
Neir: *he forms a seal underneath him and begins casting creation magic. He fires a beam of evolution and creation at Enkelados. However, the Gigante sidestepped and barely dodged it.*
Gashka: He can even dodge at such close range?!
Enkelados: I am...the third strongest of the Gigante. I was created to counter the goddess Athena in wisdom and Ares in combat. Just as Ephialtes was made to counter Artemis and Apollo and Polybotes was made to counter Neptune. Alcyoneus was made to counter Hades and finally Porphyrion was made to counter Zeus. We were made to crush gods and god-born. What chance do you heroes have?

Garm: *he raises his lances preparing to strike. With a breath he manages to psychically send Xanthos a message of two words; the only two words he will ever be able to send through thought. Fake it. Garm strikes Xanthos in a spot near his vitals, hoping Xanthos would do as he said. It was the only way for both of them to get out of here. He turned towards Quin.* He's done, Sir.


~Heaven, Hall of Judgement~

*After waiting an incredible amount of time for her judgement, Mystess stands before the doors of the hall. She had been a horrifying creature in her past. A creature seeking salvation. Because of Beserker, the odds weren't exactly in her favor.


Zora: They just keep on coming!!!
Blastion: *the magma ball explodes, showering the enemy in magma and magic*
Beowulf: *He races back to Iodes, but is intercepted by the "White Wolf" right in front of her. The wolf slams him into the ground and faces Alethia, Zora, and Blastion.* Ow... Da hell hit me...?
Zora: *she turns her attention to the wolf* That doesn't seen too friendly...
Blastion: ._. We really don't need another enemy... *he inclines the enemies* Isn't this enough for us?
*the wolf seems to understand what Blastion is saying, but still faces off with the group.*

*As Xenon is guided through the halls, several strange creatures walk blindly past her. Towards the end of the hall, was a large cell door. A blood-red eye opened and glared out at her, the large creature growling darkly.*
Ghoul: Do not fear miss. That is only Garmr, the guard dog of Hell. Resurrected by Lady Charisma herself straight from the Norse Mythology! And damn does he come in handy. Sadly, she may have resurrected it, but she can't tame it. We all await the day where one comes and tames it.


Kiko: He seemed like the type of man how would offer you money and a sandwich. Well, he must have been like that at once. What happened that made him this way?

Lindsay: Huh... *She furrows her brow, deep in thought.* ...What's a demon hunter?

*Before Matear can take another step, a lone Shinigami appears in front of him, the air around the death god distorting violently. Whoever this Shinigami was, they were certainly a cut above the rest. The Death God snorted, preparing for battle.* I am afraid you shall not pass.

Kyra: Recall him? Maybe that'd give him some cool down time?

Alethia: *She glances back at the others, hearing fragments of Raem's voice. It wasn't much, but she could at least get the basic gist of what Raem wanted. She lifted her hands, and a book formed in her hands. The pages rippled over each other as they turned, finally landing on a page with a large arrow on it.* Archive Magic: Information Transfer!! *As she spoke, Iodes noticed a loading bar appear above her own head, it's gauge filling with a golden liquid. That probably represented how much of the transfer had been completed. Looking at the others, she could see them look up as well. It appeared each person could only see their own respective gauge. Alethia blasted a group of thunderdead away with pure magic, keeping her eyes trained on the white wolf that had confronted them. The uploads had almost completed, but if that white wolf attacked, Alethia wouldn't have the magic power to stand, let alone redo the Archive Magic Spell.*

Xenon: *She locked eyes with the beast, seemingly unafraid of him.* ...Garmr...

Pennatus: We have better chances then you might think!! *Her Skelebeest armor strengthens with her resolve, and her fists glow with crimson energy.* Guys, we hit hard, we hit fast. I'll try to hold him down! *As she spoke, her feet seemed to grow into the ground, as if she had planted herself. The exact second she stopped talking, a mass of bony hands erupted from the ground under Enkelados, grabbing his legs, his torso, and anything else they could get a grip on.* Go, go, go!!

Mataer: Oh my. Looks like one of them is having a sudden burst of courage. That, or he is very arrogant....*Mataer spins his blades in each of his hands and steps forward* You honestly think you can stop us, Shinigami? HA! I rather doubt it.

Saber: The Demon Hunters are a group from all over the galaxy. They are all very powerful, and they hunt beings that they perceive as "Demonic". They're leader is a guy called Quin, and from what I've seen, he's as ruthless as they come. My friend, Steam, and I once had parts of the wolf guardian Daitengu sealed inside us. I had her fangs, he had her flames. All that is left is her claws....and I have no idea where Penny, the claws' wielder, even is. The Hunters captured me and Steam...and one of them ripped the Daitengu parts right out of us. I nearly died from it, and as for Steam...*he looks over at steam and then looks down* We were saved by an old friend, who we thought was dead....but now we have to get our Daitengu parts back! Only thing is...my cousin, Garm....he's joined the Hunters...and I don't know if I could bring myself to harm him...

Bonesaw: Right! RIPPER! GET BACK HERE! *he points his phone at Ripper and begins recalling him*
Ripper: Grrrr....*he looks back at Ryuusei* This....isn't....over.....*finally, he is sucked into the phone completely*

Raem: *after receiving the info, he nods. He then calls Efreet to him.* Efreet. You now know the location of the Ailuro compound here on Iciaura. *he puts Iodes onto Efreet's shoulder* Take Iodes and Zora. Get them out of here!
Efreet: What?!
Raem: I'll stay here and hold them off. *he looks over at Alethia* You should go with them. You look like you're about to collapse. I'll remain behind to hold off the Thunderdead and Corpulses. Beowolf, you go with them as well. *he kneels to Beowolf and pats the pup on the head* I don't want you getting hurt. *he then turns to the white wolf* If you are an enemy, I will not let you pass and hurt my friends. If you are an ally, then do as you wish, be it helping me, saving them, or evacuating any remaining citizens.

Enkelados: W-what?!
Neir: *he charges forward and slams his fist right into Enkelados's face, creation energy bursting from his fist as he makes impact with each punch he lets out*
Gashka: *he dashes forward and slices Enkelados across the stomach with his naginata, then turns around and continues the flurry next to Neir.*
Zeke: *he charges at Enkelados* SORU...*Neir and Gashka jump out of the way*....GAUSS SHOTGUN! *he rams the five talons on his feet into Enkelados's chest*
Enkelados: Gah! *Golden ichor, the blood of Immortals, flies out of his mouth as the talons stab into his chest*
Fai Zheng: *he runs forward and hits Enkelados in each of his pressure points*
Enkelados: *his eyes go blank and he nearly drops to his knees, if it weren't for Pennatus's giant skeletal hand holding him upright.*

Chimera: *it walks over and stands next to Xenon* My my....such a large little puppy, isn't it? *Chimera begins to muse to itself, stroking its chin and smiling* After I have my body back and I take care of that problem for you, I think I might just enjoy getting my revenge on Geneforce. But the question is...how? Killing their children wouldn't be enough. Hell, just put them out in the middle of a street and fate will decree a giant demon of sorts will kill one of them! No....I'll need to bide my time until opportunity presents itself...until then, I am in your humble service, Miss Xenon.

[Near Concordia]

Ryuusei quickly shifted his aim towards Bonesaw. Lightning quickly leaped away, right next to Ryuusei, and prepared to fight again. Tensions were still high.

[Revolution]

Rufus was now shouting many Phantasian obscenities; Dr. Cherubim's response was only to cast one of his spells, putting him to sleep. A stretcher came out with a medical team, and Dr. Cherubim put him down. The stretcher was wheeled away, and he returned to his original form. "... I hope Rufus can come to his senses soon." Dr. Cherubim admitted. "He was always such a fragile young boy..."

*The Shinigami pushes back its hood, revealing none other than Eirene Ailuro, the mother of Xanthos, grandmother of Iodes and Ouranos, and descendent of Annex. The air distorts around her heavily as she stares down Mataer.*
Eirene: ...Are you so confident in your power, young one?

Lindsay: *She looks at the still unconscious Steam's bed. He's hooked to several machines, and is breathing shakily. His face... or what isn't covered in bandages, is sickly pale. She grimaces before motioning for Antonio to come into the room. She silently lets Saber's information sink in, hoping that she wasn't being lied to. She knew next to nothing about these Offworlders, nor did she know anything about the Demon Hunters.* ...Well, you're both going to be in here for a while... *She runs a hand through her hair before she seems to come to terms with something.* Look... these guys- er, Demon Hunters... they hurt a lot of people here on Phantasia. I suggest... that we team up. I know a merc group who operates from Kreisan. Their leader is an Offworlder... kinda like you, I guess. His name was Knives or something along those lines.

Kyra: *It is silent as the two groups stare each other down. Kyra studies the two carefully. They were skilled, and seemed to have a solid amount of experience in teamwork. Judging from what she had seen from Phantasia thus far, Ryuusei's kind were more loners, so why would they work with other SABERs? Unless... Kyra pipes up, hoping her theory was correct.* Who was your commander?

Alethia: *She wearily nods as she begins to retreat. She casts the white wolf another glance before looking back at Raem.* Raem... be careful. *She takes her leave.*

Pennatus: *She releases her skeletal grip on Enkelados, and her feet are freed from the ground. She cracks her knuckles.* Let's keep going...

Xenon: Switch roles...
Ruari: *He looks at her for a moment, mentally deciphering her speech.* She'll assist you when you need help. Probably to return the favor you're doing for her.

Ashura: ...But what happened? *The soft-spoken question was more rhetorical, and was asked as though Ashura was thinking aloud.*

[Near Concordia]

"Why do you care?" Ryuusei asked, not letting down his guard.

[Revolution]

"... Have you heard of the recent segregation of SABERs and humans?" Dr. Cherubim asked.

Wolf: *The white wolf's eyes follow efreet as he takes zora and iodes away. It turns to raem and ceases its growling, slowly sitting down.* Good to see you all again. Raem, I trust you are well? Blastion? Alethia? Sorry for the scare... it takes a bit for me to refister who is who in this form.
Blastion: Luna? Its that really you or...

Beowulf: *running next to efreet* so... where exactly is this place?
Zora: I'm not even sure. I spent my time in the castle pranking my dad instead of learnin the layout of this part of town.

Garmr: *it snaps out, threateningly snarling, throwing the chimers's hand off of it*
Ghoul: I don't suggest bothering it. Lady charisma has plans for it.

???: are you sure thats an appropriate first lesson?
Charisma: it will show me how much she knows and what would be best for me to teach her. Maybe she'll be the one to tame it.

Kiko: I don't know about ashura, but I haven't...

Raem: Luna...*he looks down* I'm sorry. I know Mystess told me to keep my composure...but...I couldn't help but sink into Feral's lust for revenge...I killed Spirit...And now this. I want to make things right.

Efreet: I have the data in my head thanks to Alethia. Just follow me, little wolf. *he speeds up. As he looks back, he sees the gates of the city crash down, blocking Raem and anyone else in the city from escaping* Prince Raem...*he looks away and keeps going, remembering Raem's orders.*

Chimera: *it looks at the stump of its hand and furrows its brow* Oh my. Violent, isn't he? *black ooze forms a new hand on Chimera's old hand's stump. Chimera then looks over at Xenon* This one could be very useful. As long as the PUPPY *looks at Garmr* can keep its manners after you have tamed it, miss Xenon...

Zeke: Agreed. We're almost there. I can feel it.
Neir: I as well can feel it. Gaea's energy is weak, but definitely evident.
Gashka: Then lets not keep her waiting! *the group runs through the next gate. When they walk through it, they find themselves at the ruins of a city. Its an exact replica of Neo Geneforce City after the battle with Abyssion. And standing there is a tall humanoid with emerald-green greek armor. The man's skin is light green with roots sticking out like veins. His helmet has tall blades of grass as the horsehair mane on it. The man lifts up one of his mighty legs and as he does the sounds of roots being ripped up from the ground echoes out from his feet as the roots growing out of his feet are ripped from the earth under him. When he stands before Geneforce, he is 30 feet tall and looking down at them.*
Porphyrion: You have faced many challenges, little mortals. Pitty they were all in veign! Now, you face the second-in-command of the Avenging Gigante, Prophyrion, son of the Earth!
Zeke: That's.....one big earth guy...
Fai Zheng: I didn't know they made armor in that size!
Gashka: This guy is the second strongest?!
Neir: His energy...he's not just connected to the ground. He's getting stronger and stronger by the minute! Its like the earth is feeding him strength!

Saber: Knives?! I had heard some troubling things about his workings on Phantasia....apparently his mercenary company rules the criminal underworld on this planet! The whole company is made of escaped convicts! And Knives himself and his criminal underworld are at war with Seraphim LLC!

Bonesaw: Kyra, what are you getting at?

Beowulf: Now there is no turning back.... Lets keep moving forward!
Zora: Got that right little dragon wolf~ All we can to is prepare ourselves for what comes next!

Luna: It's alright, Raem. *She shifts back, but to her possessed Daitengu form* It's all right...
Blastion: SHIT!!!!

Raem: DAITENGU! *his blade ignites and he jumps back, standing next to Blastion defensively* First the Corpulses and Thunderdead, now you?! What's next, the very hounds of Hell itself?!

Luna: relax young Raem. I have not come to fight, unless you would like me to arrange a few hellhounds to make an appearance.... You wouldn't happen to know the whereabouts of young Garment, would you? I have a message to pass to him.
Blastion: a message? What message?
Luna: *she laughs and looks over to Blastion* I cannot tell you what the message is, but I guess I could humor you with who the message is from. One namely Beserker.
Blastion: Isn't that....

Raem:....Berserker? *his mind flashes back to Mystess's death*......*he grabs a piece of rubble and throws it in anger at the thunderdead. The thunderdead stop right in front of the boulder* WHERE. IS. SHE?!

Luna: now now... the final fight between those two will come in due time. Don't get ahead of yourself. And give me one good reason why I should give you her location. I too want her gone, but you are not the one to terminate her. The next time you see Garment, just howl. I'll then give him the message. *her ears twitch excessively.* I have to return. Master calls. *she turns and begins to walk away.*

Raem: Wait! Before you go, I have one question. When Mataer and I were one, I kept seeing something. A bloody snow figure. It had Mystess's voice! Was that her ghost, or am I going mad?!

Luna: What you see and what you believe... They are two completely different things depending on the mind's eye. You may have seen a ghost, or your mind may have made a projection of the girl to keep yourself from going insane. But we see how well that worked. For all you know, It could have been Beserker. I cannot tell you what you see. Only you can tell yourself. *She turns and runs off, climbing over the rubble and disappearing from sight*

Raem: ......Blastion.....get out of here.

Mataer: *he looks Eirene over and spins his blades in his hands* HA! You can't win, Shinigami, no matter who you were in life! I am Vengeance itself!
