Tales of Talarus: Genesis Empty Re: Tales of Talarus: Genesis

Prologue:

In the beginning there was nothing. An infinite blackness that stretched as far as the eye could see. This realm, devoid of life and a resting place for the souls of the dead whom had yet to be judged was named the Null. As the Fates gazed upon the Null, they saw potential. However, in order for life to be created, an inhabitable place for it would need to be created. And thus the Fates created the Gods and Goddesses of Talarus. First, light and darkness had to be created to create balance. Thus the God Helios and the being Chaos were willed into existence. Helios was born with a heart of purity and wished nothing but the goodness of all creations. He was the light. The other, Chaos, came to have a heart of darkness, discord and a lust for destruction. Together these two started creating the stars and the infinity of space. While Helios created the things that would be life’s guiding light, the stars, the Sun and the Moon; Chaos set to work trying to sabotage all that she had created. He set the celestial bodies that she had created in perpetual motion, creating phenomenon that bred the darkness and chaos that he so craved.

Next came those Gods and Goddesses that would breathe life into the planets that had been created. Chimera, the God of Lunar Flame, set the Moon ablaze with his silver flames so that even in the night, light would shine through. Together with Gaia, the Goddess of the planet, they created fresh earth and plant life that would sustain further life within the confines of the planets within the cosmos. Then Harpy, the Goddess of the Wind and mischief, created the gusting winds that blew across the planets, scattering all manners of Gaia’s creations and helping to quickly populate the world with her creations. But soon the world grew too warm and the Goddess Diammonddust, a wolf Goddess with fur as cold and icy as the winter tundra’s that she so loved to call her home in Celestia, worked together with the other Goddess’ to create the seasons to carefully nurture their planet and help to sustain its inhabitants. With the climate of the planet now perfected, it then needed a way to continuously provide a life-giving source of water. Raiken, the wolf God of storms and thunder, created the clouds and provided rain and lightning. Though dangerous, lightning started flames, not of destruction, but of rebirth. For each fire that had started, new life soon rose from the soil and soon the planet grew even more enriched with life.

Soon the world that the gods and goddesses had created began to flourish and the Fates, in their infinite wisdom, blessed their creation with a further revelation: mankind. Though wary at first of the Fates supposed blessing, soon mankind had begun to live peacefully within the world that they had created. They then gave Gaia the ability to mold and shape even more new life onto the planet and soon many kinds of plants and animals began to populate the planet with mankind. Though only two were created, the gods and goddesses saw fit to give them names. The man was given the name Xytegenia and the woman was named Talarus, after the planet through which they had been given birth. They were happy living on the planet and soon they began to flourish along with the other manners of life on the planet.

Chaos however, saw fit to intervene once again. He tricked Chimera into helping him create mountains of fire that destroyed everything around them. Clouds of ash soon followed their eruptions of molten fire, blocking the sun and destroying more and more of Gaia’s creations. But throughout it all, mankind survived. Being forced to find new ways in order for them to survive their ordeals, mankind saw fit to master their environments. Soon the Gods and Goddesses saw their surprisingly strong will to survive and gifted them with not only knowledge, but their blessings. Bestowed with the magical powers of the Gods and Goddesses they had so worshipped, mankind soon began to once again flourish within the confines of their home. But the chaos that had been wrought was not enough. Chaos saw fit to further destroy what had been created. He sowed the seeds of emotions, spread disease and temptation throughout mankind’s minds and created mighty beasts that would prey upon mankind.

It was then that Helios intervened. Now that mankind had grown in numbers he knew that they would need a powerful force that would allow them to heal their wounded and give themselves light with which they could continue to grow. He too, gave them his blessing. Mankind, now capable of healing their injured comrades outside of the things within the world around them, flourished even further. Soon societies began to form, small groups of men and women got together and settled down into the environments that they enjoyed the most. It was then that village’s began to form and mankind continued to flourish further and further. It had seemed as though Chaos’ efforts had finally been subdued forever.

But things were not as they had seemed. Though silent, Chaos had already begun his evil plan to demolish the one things that were holding him from creating the eternal darkness and chaos that he so desired. Through one of mankind’s own, he fed his power into him. Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, Chaos was creating a true monster. His name was Nephilim. As Nephilim’s power grew undetected, soon mankind had finally started to reach its limitations and old age finally claimed its first victim. The Null now populated with their souls, the Fates created the two realms through which they could watch over their loved ones and provide guidance, or suffer in eternal damnation for the crimes they had committed in life. And thus, Heaven and Hell were created. Chaos, having sown the seeds of darkness and corruption through Nephilim, was given a deal by the Fates. Rule over Hell whilst Helios ruled over Heaven and through the armies of the dead that the two would be amassing, fight amongst themselves so as to not interrupt the flow of mankind’s progress. The two, content with both a realm of purest light and a realm of fire and darkness to which they could both call their own, agreed to go to their own realms in order to allow the other Gods and Goddesses to do as they wished.

However, despite the peace that was finally created amongst the Gods and Goddesses of Talarus, the seed of darkness that Chaos had planted had already grown too much. Nephilim, now corrupted beyond the help of the Gods and Goddesses of the realm, sought the power of others in order to grow more powerful himself. His greed knew no bounds, the dark man slaughtering his fellow men and taking their magic for his own. Just as peace had finally seemed to be restored to the realm of the Gods, Nephilim shattered it within an instant. His power having grown unnoticed by the Fates, he soon saw fit to challenge the Gods and Goddesses themselves in order to gain more power.

Further and further Nephilim’s power grew, the powers of the Gods and Goddesses proving to be no match for his strength. His dominion over Chaos’ destructive power was masterful and soon even the God of Darkness himself could not control his own creation. But the defeat of the Gods and Goddesses themselves was not enough for him. Using his power that he had collected and practiced, Nephilim created a weapon through which he could become even stronger. Binding together the demonic souls from Hell’s most damned souls and forged in the pits of Hell themselves, the weapon Oblivion was breathed into life. Bearing a mind of its own and a lust for destruction only eclipsed by Nephilim himself, Nephilim took control of his fight against the Gods and Goddesses and began to slowly deplete their power and influence within the world. Soon Talarus descended into darkness and the end of all that they had created seemed nigh.

In desperation, they sought the help of the Fates once more in order to save the world they had created from total destruction. Together they came up with a plan. The Fates, in their infinite wisdom, saw fit to challenge Nephilim themselves. However, they told him that they would only see their challenge through within the confines of the realm of the dead; The Null. Foolishly following his greedy desire for power, Nephilim accepted their challenge and was taken to the lifeless realm to fight against the most powerful beings in existence. His plan was simple; defeat the Fates and take their powers as his own. Then rewrite history and become the most powerful being in existence. The Fates however, had a different plan. Though the Null was a near limitless expanse through which they could use their power, there was one thing that Nephilim had all but forgotten: he was still mortal.

Into the Null he came and soon his own mortality started to be sapped from his body. The Null drained his body of its life and his soul was ripped from his body. His power finally weakened, the Fates had chosen a champion from the kingdom of Heaven to fight on their behalf and seal Nephilim’s soul away within the confines of the Null forever. The champion, bearing no weapon of his own to fight against Oblivion, was given a final gift. A weapon of light was forged from all of the elements, the Gods and Goddesses banding together to forge a blade through which their salvation could be claimed. The weapon was named the Infinity Blade and with it the champion fought valiantly against Nephilim on the Fates behalf. But even the collective strength of all of Celestia was not enough to defeat Nephilim. Now an unjudged soul having gained enough strength to fight within the Null itself, the infinite expanse of Null began to mean nothing to him. Whilst it sapped the champion of his strength, Nephilim was too powerful. Out of desperation, the Fates themselves descended upon Nephilim and lended their strength to the champion in order cast a spell of unimaginable strength. With it, Nephilim was finally separated from Oblivion and with that chance they beat Nephilim down. A final spell, casted with the combined powers of the Fates, the Gods and the Goddesses of Talarus, they finally sealed Nephilim’s soul within the confines of a magical pyramid. The Infinity Blade, having lost much of its strength, shatters and its pieces scatter onto Talarus’s surface while Oblivion, having lost its master, disappeared altogether.

Peace, it seemed, finally had returned to the cosmos. In the Null however, Nephilim still slumbers in his prison. Mankind soon formed rumors and legends of the climactic battle against Nephilim and his ilk. Though his presence had disappeared from Talarus, Nephilim’s evil power gave birth to a new fear of the darkness around them. Over time, the light began to dominate the darkness and soon Helios and Chaos had begun to slumber as well. Thus allowing the angels of the kingdom of Heaven and the demons of the pits of Hell to fight amongst themselves on their behalf. Their fighting still continues to this day….
