(Reboot) Pokemon: Beyond the Tall Grass

Wes looked at the egg and stroked the shell's surface. He gave a slight smile, as if this egg provided some comfort. The swirling pattern and the colors made him hold the egg close to himself.

"I'll... I'll take care of it." he said without looking up. "No matter what it is."

Yuno looked over and stretched her arms, the bandage falling away from her arm. She didn't seem to notice as she waved her arms about.

"Well? Lets give this Green fellow a call!"

Catia nodded slowly to Cerise's statement, still a tad embarrassed from being told that her question was stupid. She looked over to Yuno when she suggested that they give Professor Green a call, noticing that her bandage fell off and bending down to get it. She holds it out to her.

"You dropped the bandage on your...."

She stops speaking mid-sentence when she sees the crack in her arm.

"....arm....Yuno....why is your arm....cracked?"

She asks, finishing her previous statement in the process. Why in the world would Yuno have a crack on her arm? That didn't make any sense.

"Okay, so that's what I'll do," the red head said as he brought egg back to his body.  He then grinned widely at the no-longer solemn catching-specialist.  "Wes, you and I will be egg raisers now!  That's kinda cool!"

He had now lifted up the broken Pokegear, with Rotom still inside, to make him contact Professor Green but then he heard Catia speak about Yuno's arm.

He turned to look and found that what he thought was a creepy illusion, was true.  His smile collapsed and his heart pounded in fear.  What happened to her?!  Was she cursed?!  Her eyes were the same as Catia's but... this was really unsettling!

"I knew that's what I saw!  Yuno, have you seen your arm?!" he blurted, a tinge of panic in his voice.  "How did that happen?!"

Yuno immediately tried to pull her sleeve over the crack, face furiously red. She covered her face and took a couple steps back, then running off towards the stairs to go higher.

"I-I have to go!" she shouted, disappearing up the stairs. As she disappeared, there were tears on her face.

Wes looked at the group, slightly confused, but also questioningly. Will they all give chase, or stay put?

(OOC: Well of course I'm following. I have an obligation to protect her after all~ )

Catia narrowed her eyes and have a small growl. She wasn't getting off that easy without an explanation. After all she went through to keep her safe from harm, this deserved at least some explanation! Especially to her!

"Wait Yuno come back!"

She yelled after her, giving chase to the distraught girl. She had to figure out why she'd keep such a large secret from even herself. It didn't make sense to keep something as big as a crack in your arm a secret from someone you loved. She had to figure out what was going on.

"N-No, wait!!  Don't go alone!!" Decoda shouted, completely ignoring his previous commitment to keeping it down for the spirits.  He felt horrible, having said something impulsively like that.  Even after all his efforts this journey to keep his words under control, he felt as if he had ruined everything.  He took his free hand and smushed it to his face in disappointment with himself and then turned to the other two guys in the party.

"I don't wanna be here any longer than we have to, but I really feel obligated to apologize for what I said..." he confessed, taking away his hand to reveal a frustrated expression.  "I'm going to follow them."

He turned on his heel and dashed after the girls yelling, "I'm sorry, Yuno!!  I didn't mean to say it like that!!  Please don't get lost up there!!"

Wes got up and followed, holding the egg tightly. (im just gonna say Cerise follows as well) When they finally caught up to Yuno on the top floor of the Pokemon tower, she turned to face them. There were cracks all throughout her face, and blood leaking like tears from her eyes. Yuno looked at the group, terrified, before her eyes came void of emotion. The Honedge tightened the scarf it had wrapped around her arm, forcing her to turn to the group.

"Greetings." She spoke in a monotone. "This creature is now mine. It will allow me to free myself of this place."

Catia stopped dead in her tracks at the scene in front of her, frozen in place by what she was currently witnessing. Then she heard the Honedge's voice and immediately started growling in anger.

"Let. Go. Of. My. GIRLFRIEND!"

She growled at it, her fists clenching as they started to glow with her powers. Then she ran up to Yuno and grabbed hold of the strange scarf that was on her body, clenching it in her hands and gritting her teeth as she waited for the sword in Yuno's hand to cut her as she attempted to pull the scarf off of Yuno.

The scarf simply tightened it's grip, forcing Yuno to raise a hand and deliver the bitch slap of the century. Pieces of Yuno's hand cracked and fell away, revealing not muscle, but emptiness. As Catia staggered back, the Honedge made itself at home as it's hilt rested in Yuno's hand. She pointed the blade at Catia, then Decoda, followed by Wes and Cerise. 

"Why would you want this creature back?" She questioned, her head falling to the left. "It is not human. It isn't even alive. It is noting but a doll; hollow and broken on the inside."

"...What exactly does that mean...?" Cerise asked with furrowed brows as he ran forward to help steady Catia after the girl had staggered back from being slapped. This traveling companion that had been with them for only a short time seemed to be literally falling apart at the seams! It was pretty obvious that she wasn't human, but in that case... what was she? And why did this Honedge want to be free so desperately? "What... what exactly is Yuno...? I don't understand!"

Catia took in a sharp breath from being slapped by Yuno, feeling Cerise's hands helping to steady her as she staggered backwards from it. Her mind was blank when she heard Honedge's words, her hand reaching up to feel for the large red mark on her cheek from being hit so hard. It was strange but she couldn't deny its logic. Yuno clearly wasn't human and judging from what was underneath her skin as it fell away from her body, she was clearly hollow like it had described. She froze in place with Cerise's hands steadying her, mind racing as she tried to find a reason to keep trying to force Honedge off of her.

Then her memories of Yuno started to fill her head. From when they first met even up until now, Catia had never once felt like Yuno was a doll. She was every bit as real as a normal girl. She was an ascended who shared the same feelings of protection over those she cared so much about. She was the first person to ever truly accept her regardless of her past or her outlook on life. She made her the happiest that she'd been since her father died. She loved her. Why should her being literally empty on the inside matter? She was human enough to her, and that was what mattered the most right now.

Touching Cerise's hands that were helping to steady her, she turned and smiled to him.

"Thanks for keeping me up Cerise. I'm okay now. And I need you to help me. If we all work together, we can get Yuno back. But I need you to trust me."

She spoke, standing up straight and taking a breath to calm herself. Her eyes began to glow as her powers manifested themselves and she smiled again behind her to her companions. She may not know them as well as she wanted to, but they were here now. And this was her chance to finally start relying on them instead of just herself.

"Decoda, Cerise, Wes. I want you to do whatever it takes to get that thing off of Yuno. I'm putting all of my faith in you guys now."

She told them, touching Cerise's hands again with a reassuring smile before turning back to Yuno. This was going to be difficult with just one arm, not to mention painful. But her memories and love for this 'doll' made her the happiest she'd been in years. And that was something she believed in protecting with her life. Without wasting any time and with no warning, she ran forward and tackled Yuno to the ground, wrapping the girl in a hug with her good arm as they went down. She gave a cry from hitting her bad shoulder on Yuno's body but she managed to yell out to the others once she had a good grasp on Yuno's body, making sure she left the hand with the sword completely free so that the others could do whatever they needed to do to get this pokemon off of her.

"Cerise! Decoda! Wes! Now!"

She called out to them. It was all up to them now.

(OOC: So um....petition to have Cerise catch that Honedge? He is a descendant of Aegislash after all. It would only make sense that he have one for himself! )

((OOC: It'd be ironic if Cerise could/did catch it, surely but I don't know if he'd want it considering he already has a steel type?  By the way, what level is the Honedge?))

Decoda stared in horror as he saw what had become of poor Yuno.  He knew that gaping hole would be prime for possession, even if he didn't think it could happen, at first.  He'd never seen such a blade before in his life, but was much too afraid to pull out his pokedex.  He also desperately wanted to call out his avatar companion, but something told him that Rotom wouldn't "be available" right now.

The words that this thing said, though... he had no reason to question it.  That hole was proof enough for what was said about her, but... the ascended were still considered human, he thought?  Or were Loka and Catia also no longer human?  Regardless, this thing looked like it wasn't giving up without a fight, and Catia reaffirmed it with her battle-ready words.  He couldn't physically attack this ghost, and knowing the type advantage ghost had against psychic, he selected Mudkip's Pokeball from his belt.

"So soon, she's slipping from us..." he whispered in a low, depressing tone, bouncing the mudfish's pokeball against the ground to release him.  "All those young, eager trainers I fought at the gym... did they ever encounter something like this on their journeys?"

When Catia grabbed ahold of the girl, Mudkip looked towards his trainer and prepared himself for the fight.  Decoda looked down at his little Pokemon and nodded.  He then looked at Cerise and Wes and narrowed his eyes.  "I'll do the damage, you two can have it if you want something like this!  Mudkip, Water Gun, full blast!"

The blue Pokemon aimed and spit a straight shot at the Honedge, and even though its only effective attack was weak, it hoped for the most.

(Ah. So the decision has been made without me even asking. Rocky, please meet me on pokemon showdown at about 7:00pm my time. You have chosen to battle the Honedge.)

The water crashed into Honedge, as well as Yuno, causing it to release some sort of energy to knock them all back. Yuno slowly got up and pointed the blade at Decoda.

"If it is a fight you wish to have, then it is a fight I shall deliver." She spoke. "You are my opponent. Nobody else."

((To explain what happened:

-Mudkip One Battle only used Muddy water, so decoda wouldnt get hurt.
-Honedge, having never battle someone before, didn't know what to really do. So it swords danced a lot.
-Galopa didn't want to fight, but couldnt go against it's trainer's commands

*As Mudkip delivered the final blow to Galopa, the Honedge unraveled itself from Yuno's arm. She fell to the ground, unconscious. The Honedge floated for a bit, then clattered to the floor.*

((It's so fast when you just watch it - in the show its always way longer than what it actually takes!  XD))

Decoda held his breath and tightened his chest in between commanding his Pokemon throughout the battle, the Muddy Water washing Catia off and away from the broken girl.  It felt no remorse for fighting, as it hadn't gotten a chance to battle once this journey and all its pent up power finally unleashed into a brand new attack.  Decoda also finally felt like he connected to Mudkip, the thrill of battle returning to his system once more.  It had been so long, it seemed, since those Gym Trainer matches back in Pewter.

"We did it...?" he exhaled, his eyes wide with fear that it would come back for a second round.  When the Honedge fell, he sighed of relief and loosened his posture.  "Mudkip... I didn't realize you had that move... I thought it was..."

"Kip!" the blue Pokemon smiled proudly, jumping straight into Decoda's arms.  He praised it with rubs under its spiky cheeks, massaging its moist back with a shaking hand.

"I'm so happy...  Thank you... but, what about Yuno?" he said concerned, and looked up at the scene.  Most of the gravestones were covered in mud and water, and the floor was really slippery where the battle took place.  They should probably leave before they got scolded...

Catia gave a yell when she got blown back from Yuno, losing breath from her body when she landed on the ground nearby and hitting her broken shoulder at a bad angle. She closed her eyes tightly and focused onto the pain, only to have a large collection of mud and water wash over her body and get her all wet. It was at this time that she was thankful for wearing a collection of bandages underneath her shirt, without which she might've punched anyone who was currently looking in her direction. With her clothing sticking to her body, she shakily got up to look at Yuno who had fallen to the ground unconscious at this time.

With a wince of pain, she dragged herself over to Yuno and put a hand on her cheek. She watched her with her breath caught in her chest as she put the side of her face near hers to check for breathing.

"Well, that was something..." Cerise murmured as he watched Mudkip unleash its power. That was the first he'd seen it fight, off the top of his memory but it seemed quite competent in battle. As the drenched Honedge clattered to the ground, Cerise glanced at it a moment before returning his attention to the situation at hand.

"How is she?" Cerise asked Catia as he knelt down next to her, watching as she tried to check for breathing. There wasn't a guarantee that Catia would show any signs, now that the group knew what she was, but there probably wasn't any harm in trying, right?

Despite all of the cracks on her face and body, Yuno's breathing was light, as if she was simply asleep. As Catia held her, she gave a small smile and cuddled a bit closer.

"Kitty Catia..."




The Honedge slowly rose, dripping with mud and water. It moved a few feet, then clattered to the ground again.

(OOC: D'awwww so cute~ >w< )

Catia gave a quick breath of relief and giggled quietly, holding Yuno and smiling.

"She's going to be okay Cerise. She's going to be just fine."

She answered him, a few tears easily visible on her mud stroked face. Hearing the Honedge clattering to the ground nearby, she looked up at it and her smile disappeared. She really wanted to do something for it, despite everything that'd happened. It just wanted to be free from being trapped in this place. She could understand that. She turned to Cerise and gestured to the hurt Honedge.

"Cerise, can you do me a favor while I tend to Yuno? Can you heal that Honedge? I feel bad leaving it hurt like that."

She asked him, smiling as she felt Yuno cuddling closer to her.

With Catia and Cerise handling the situation with Yuno, Decoda watched the Honedge get up again, tempted to whip out a ball and catch the thing so it wouldn't cause any more trouble, but he didn't have any use for such an evil Pokemon... Maybe he could trade it away for something better, something that he liked?  He'd never traded with anyone but his father before, so it would certainly be interesting...

"Heads up!" he shouted as he tossed an empty Pokeball at the defeated Pokemon, the red and white orb smashing against its ghostly steel blade.  He waited patiently to see if it was a success or a failure.  Mudkip watched too, half hoping against the capture since it caused such mayhem here.

The center of the pokeball blinked as it shook slightly, clicking shut almost instantly. The Honedge was unable to put up a fight. Wes stood next to Decoda egg secured in one arm, P*DA in the other. He looked over something, then looked at th pokeball on the ground, which had now rolled to Decoda's feet.

"Do you know how to use the Global Trade System, Decoda?" He asked, sliding through screens on his device.

As he bent down to pick up the Pokeball, Decoda noticed Wes taking out his device and scrolling through it.  As he asked him about the Global Trading System, he pulled himself up and brushed his hair to the side, one of his eyebrows raised slightly.

"The what?" teenager asked, having never heard of such a thing before.  "I don't think so, unless it's been called something else in the past, but, it sounds kinda new.  Is that how I can get rid of... whatever this Pokemon is?"

He quickly withdrew his Pokedex, putting his egg under his bicep for security as he waited for the Honedge to appear on the index's screen.  At least he got it registered before he gave it away to someone. Hopefully, they'd know how to tame such a twisted blade of evil.

"Wait, are you going to trade it away?" Cerise asked curiously as he walked over to the other two, now reassured that Yuno was alright... or as close as she could be, anyway. "Decoda, I don't know if that's a good idea... what if a new trainer who doesn't know how to handle Pokemon ends up getting it?"

Cerise pauses a moment to gather his thoughts. "I know you want to get rid of it and after what just happened and I understand why, but... I don't know if I'd be alright with giving away this Honedge without trying to help it. N-not that I want to guilt-trip you or anything, but... it seems a bit cruel to plop Honedge onto someone else without trying to understand why it did this to Yuno. It might try doing this to someone else, so..." He looks down as he trails off with his words, a momentary wave of embarrassment on his face from even making the suggestion before he readjusts his glasses.

"I'd like to try to help Honedge, if possible. If I can't succeed, then... Then we can give it away through trade. I-is that alright?"

((So, Phi, dude, your post got me so inspired that I had to do another comic.  This doesn't happen often, but I definitely want it to because it was fun and helped me get across the faces I just couldn't write down.  Also, first ever drawn Yuno (as small as it is).  If you can't read it, let me know if I should transcribe it or not!))

Decoda "Trades" Honedge

((Sorry about the stupid links, servimg isn't in my favor right now... Also, Decoda was going off to help Catia and Yuno get up so they could all leave, if that wasn't exactly clear in the comic.))

Catia watched the exchange between Cerise and Decoda, an internal sigh going off in her head. Sure, the Honedge caused a lot of problems in the short time that she'd dealt with it. It even smacked her around too! But Cerise was right: it was just too risky to give such an unruly Pokemon to some random person. Granted, Yuno was special in more ways than the others knew, but at least she was okay now. That was what mattered.

As Decoda walked over, Catia gave Yuno's body a nudge and gently shook her shoulders to try and wake her up.

"Hey Yuno. You need to wake up. I can't really carry you otherwise I'd let you sleep more."

She spoke softly, sounding more like a mother than a girlfriend.
