Geneforce Chronicles: Powerless.

Welcome my friends to a world much like our own, but with a twist. In this world our lives are almost the same except for one big event.

The year is 20XX and sudden world wide catastrophes are happening all over the planet. You decide it is your job to try and help the people of the planet, but suddenly while helping, a flash of light blinds you and the next thing you know your powers are gone. What could have caused this, what is happening, you must find out for yourselves, find friends and try and figure out what is going on.

Bio: The previously powerful wind mage was busy rescuing people from a tidal wave when suddenly his powers just stopped, now without powers he has no idea what to do.

Alliance: Good
Powers: Water Magic
Weakness: Lightning, Slimy things.
Bio: The beautiful water mage was helping her friend when her water magic failed her, now she must use her normal abilities to save her friends.

Name: Emily
Age: 9
Alliance: Neutral
Powers: None
Weakness: Most things, boredom
Bio: Emily has always had no powers so this is all nothing new to her.

So tell us what you guys where doing when your powers failed. and we will go from there.

What about characters like Rufus Cherubim, who have no powers of their own but rely on external forces instead?

actually, natural things like a bird born with wings is NOT negated. like my chr's ultraviolet eyes... and chris is a god so... also Nanashi is Chris' failed clone o-o

Alright... here's the difference I'm struggling with.

Rufus commands these animal-like programs known as SABERs, which is where all of his combat ability comes from; disable his ability to command them and he's screwed over. Not only can't he fight, he becomes nothing more than an ordinary kid with a huge brain. Even a kindergartener could beat him in a wrestling match.

Okay you guys, I'll do this for ya... ^_^

Name: Roqueta "Rocky the Robot" Kaos
Age: 18 (age increase due to continuity)
Alliance: Neutral Hero
Weakness: Water, Electromagnetic Internal Malfunction, Wind, and open battle arenas
Powers: Super Strength (due to robotic enhancement) and Geokinesis (Chaos Energy as well)
Bio: Whilst stopping a runaway bullet train from crashing into the end of the station (during one of her daily heroic acts), Rocky tried to use her super-robot strength to halt the giant machine. Thinking she was waisting her energy and stamina on the train, she ripped away from the train's nose and stood on the track as she tried to use her Geokinesis. When she expected success, the defense failed, and she had let go long enough for the train to be out of her reach, even if she ran after it. When she tried to stop time, that also failed. Her eyes widened as the train kept going, faster and faster...

Name: Ikari the Hedgehog

Alliance: Neutral (more toward Vigilante)
Weakness: Illogical things, and magic (she also hates it)
Powers: Plasma (a recent chemical bonding)
Bio: Ikari was out gathering supplies for her latest creation she was engineering, when the feeling of power loss seemed to echo through her body. The Plasma's disappearing act accidentally caused Ikari to drop and destroy all her important, rare and apparently fragile pieces, causing her to become swallowed up by rage...

((That was hard to come up with... ><; I hope this stuff qualifies too; according to Chris I can keep the Robo-Strength for Rocky, so I guess that works.))

Weakness: He cares about his friends
Bio: Formerly a member of the mercenary company Dark Cosmos, Alex learned to control his powers alongside his captain, Spirit, and his surrogate sister, Luna. He now works for the Celestial Faith, a group dedicated to the enhancement of good in the galaxy. He is currently and Exorcist, which is the same as a foot soldier. However, on a mission to a new planet, Alex's claw began to loose its luster and he could feel it become heavy, like metal. Could it be that the divine gift he was given was abandoning him?

Name: "Millions" Knives Law.
Age: 19
Alliance: Whoever pays him the most or gets him the most alcohol. The cash coming before the booze.
Weakness: His love of cheap booze, women, and money.
Powers: Amazing engineering and inventing skills and his genetic engineering to mix his rare blood type with different concoctions to create fluids that, once injected, can give the user a certain power for a limited time. (these are called Gene Tonics) His main weapon is a large, cross-shaped, bandage-design-painted rail gun-like energy rifle called Crucifix.
Bio: Knives was a mercenary. Plain and simple. He would kill people, destroy homes, ruin lives, and hunt down criminals all for the sake of money. Unlike his younger brother, Alex, Knives has no morals or obligations. He is a known playboy who drinks and swears like a sailor. The only thing that keeps him from being client-less is the fact that he NEVER fails a mission and that he is one of the most talented mechanical and genetic engineers in the Milky Way galaxy. He was hired to go to some new planet when his weapons, even his Crucifix rifle, stopped working. Even his Gene Tonics, which he had perfected to give him an edge over targets with powers, stopped working on him. He didn't know what was going on, but he did know that he had one question as he searched his special cabinet.......Why is the Iciaurian Beer always gone?!

Sadly this is true. That's why I went with either a "DemiGod of the Forum" (As Chris and Geoff call him... {Nanashi}) or a Character that naturally has no powers. The only character I am using for this is Xeche, who relied on his powers greatly. So he's the opposite of my character who doesn't rely on powers he doesn't possess; Valyk. Then there's Nanashi...

The ironic part is, his power is Belief (Contrary to his true self, Chris, who has the power of DISbelief) so if you believe Nanashi has no powers... then he won't have any. But this power is slightly complicated. Nanashi knows what others believe of him. But if a person doesn't TRULY believe he's powerless, he will have his power... of Belief... However, if someone were to KNOW what's going on, they'd expect Nanashi to have NO powers; therefore, he has none. Ironically, this is a passive power. But because he IS a clone of a God of the Forum, his powers are not negated. But do keep in mind that seeing is NOT believing, and neither is experience. As this is a complicated power, I'll explain his actions when I see fit. Smile

But back to your question, SABERs cannot be used by your character unless it is of your race's trait. Like a Bird had Wings, or Valyk has Ultrashined eyes (this can be Surgical or Birth related), but it MUST be natural to your species. Magical Items apparently do not work as well so Valyk is going to have to rely on his own skill rather than knowledge.

This RP is going to be similar to a part of my RP in the Older Forum. Remember PoD? The powerless planet? This is the same ordeal. (I wonder if I used that word right...) Since Rocky IS a Robot, she still has her natural Robot Abilities. I don't know about Ikari though, since you DID mention it's a Chemical Bonding, aka a Change in her DNA (aka a 'Surgery'), I haven't a clue if her power(s) would be negated.

I feel like this would be a useful character in the RP xD
However; the Power-Enabler would be considered Overpowered in this RP (as would ANY contradiction to any story). I do very much want to see this in the RP, but I'd ask Geoff if this is allowed or not. In my opinion: if this were allowed, I'd think it would have to be difficult to create the Tonic. Like needing specific materials and/or needing a certain day to perform the creation, or even making a probability for it to fail- in which case noone would know, so either the Tonic would give a power, or strip the drinker of their lifeforce. Just a thought! 8D

It is difficult to create the tonics. In order to, he needs certain ingredients. As for the cost of using them, I never came up with one other than the fact that he gains the elemental weakness of the power he uses, like if he turned to metal he can't swim or if he used lightning he has to avoid touching the ground lest he discharges the power completely. He can, however, duel-wield powers. For instance, he could use the Metal Shell tonic and the Flame Tonic to make a burning-hot-metal shell out of his skin. This however would mean that if he was to be fighting on an ice planet, he would melt through the planet until he hit rock. Or, if he was on a water planet, the metal would cool and become brittle. Everything the Tonics use is simple chemistry. However, I could give it a weakness. How about when he comes out of the powers since each one only lasts about an hour, he is in a hangover like state where he suffers from a severe migraine, nausea, and poor motor function as well as weakened physical strength? As for the probability to fail, I never really gave thought to that. Knowing Knives, he probably doesn't have a failure probability. That is another weakness I forgot to mention. He can be a bit of a perfectionist. He will never give up until he succeeds and fulfills his contracts. Even if it means death.

EDIT: Also, i did mention that the Tonics had stopped working on him in my description.

Even his Gene Tonics, which he had perfected to give him an edge over targets with powers, stopped working on him.

Interesting, a Side-Effect rather than a Failure Rate. I like it! xD
But again, I'd suggest asking Geoff. Considering it IS his RP, and the fact that it's a drink. I'd assume anyone would be able to drink it?
If you want to avoid that, maybe make another side-effect for when someone else drinks it?

Its not exactly a drink. someone can drink it, but its toxic if ingested because he designed it to react violently to saliva. If the tonic is to be used properly, injection into the bloodstream via the wrist or leg is the only non-toxic approach. As for taking it up with Geoff, I will. So don't you worry, Garmy-boy. You ain't gettin rid of me that easily ;D

Ray, Zazul, and Rocky, I'm speaking to Chris and Genesis about your characters. Ray, since your 'ability' is connected to technology, it depends on HOW you control the SABERs. If it's through a psychic link, it's negated. However, if you control them with a technological source, you can still control them. Zazul, your tonic would end up not having any effect except for the side effects. If he were to inject the tonic, the power is already negated, so you'd only have the side-effect. Rocky, apparently DNA related powers are negated; however, something gained through Medical-Use/Adaptability(Evolution) are NOT negated. Also, Nanashi was removed from the "Forum-God" list for this RP because he complicates Chris' and Geoff's Minds too much.

Rufus doesn't control them psychically; no, they have their own consciousness. Rufus simply tells them what to do, and through his cell phone, he can alter their abilities on a dime. It's an ability all humans in his warped reality have.

I forgive you for making the mistake of recognizing Ikari's chemical bonding as surgery, but only because she is new, let alone, I haven't released RK:Alpha Ikari(Ikari's debut story, in which I really should finish...) yet for you to truly understand, that its not surgery. My understanding is that Chaos Power can be negated, which is what her Plasma abilities are linked to. (Ex: Chaos Control, even though she cannot preform this move.) In the story, it seeped into her body by means of gaseous form, and like a virus, spread through her whole system. Its not a sickness, but they are very new to her body. Now does it count?

Rocky's robotics have been added to her at the age of 8, which is a form of surgery. This you got right. However, because she is powered by Chaos Energy in her bloodstream, her only kept powers are her super strength (<< does not require Energy). She cannot go super without her own Chaos Energy, which means no jetboots (no flying), no running boosts, and no Chaos Control. Geokinesis (a.k.a. ability to control ground, rock, and some minerals) was given at birth, and because of that, its negated. Is this simplified enough, or would you like a better explanation? ^_^;

Okay. New issue o-o: Yes, you can control them. But their abilities are negated. What you can do is swarm the place with them! 8D

So then Knives would only use his cannon. I'm good with that. He's a crack shot anyway so it all plays out. That still makes him pretty dangerous. As for Alex, since there is no problems with him he can stay the way he is.

That works. A few SABERs rely on numbers anyway, and a commander's ability to coordinate them is the difference between a rookie and a legend.
