Catia's Story (Pokemon: Beyond the Tall Grass) Empty Catia's Story (Pokemon: Beyond the Tall Grass)

Post by ShadowFantasy 9/1/2014, 12:56 am

As a child, Catia was never a normal kid. She grew up with just her mother Loria and her little sister Kiria to play with and take care of each other. Her father had left on leave as a ranger to the Sinnoh region a while back and as far as Catia knows is still alive. Her mother being a breeder, both Catia and Kiria spent a lot of time with Pokemon. Catia grew an affinity for taking care of Fire and Rock type Pokemon while Kiria grew an affinity for Ice and Steel types. Around her early teens, Catia began to develop special powers that she excitedly practiced at first. Then the neighborhood kids began to make fun of her everytime she left the safety of her hometown to gather groceries for her mother, getting into trouble despite not wanting to cause it. After a couple of years, the harassment suddenly got physical and she got into street fights regularly on her way home. Her mother told her to only use her powers if it was absolutely necessary, seeing them as a gift and a blessing. Catia only saw them as a curse, an excuse for others to pick on and hurt her for reasons only they saw fit. Soon enough, Catia grew tired of her curse and tried to rid herself of them the only way she really knew how: disabling her movement. She almost succeeded, were it not for the sudden appearance of her long lost father who managed to save her life. At first, she was angry with him for saving her, wanting nothing more than to be normal or at the very least in no more pain. Then as she continued to talk to him, he helped her realize that her actions wouldn't solve anything, that she should face her fears and have no regrets any longer. Her father died soon after that and she made a promise to herself that she wouldn't be scared anymore, that she would live everyday on every opportunity that she could. Just before receiving Professor Green's letter, Catia had grown up into a beautiful young girl with great self-esteem and a love for breeding. Then she received the professor's letter and she made the decision to put her breeding dream on hold to keep experiencing everything her life had to offer to her, in honor of her father.

More rangers and supportive families!  Yay!  Maybe we'll get to see her sister sometime in the RP?

I'm glad she was saved, even though it her father lost his life.  How, though?

I would love to know more about their trials with Pokemon breeding and these instances of bullying, because that could really help open up her character and show real fears, or internal struggles.  They don't have to be graphic, depicting blood or anything, but fist fights or Pokemon battles can certainly be interesting with these street kids!

Definitely branch on these more, but only if you want to!

Catia's Story (Pokemon: Beyond the Tall Grass) Empty Re: Catia's Story (Pokemon: Beyond the Tall Grass)

Thanks Rocky~ I actually have been spending a bit of time developing her backstory for the RP and so far I've managed to come up with the detailed part about her father's death. So without further delay, let me just double space down here and tell that part of her story! ^^

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She had had enough. The teasing, the bullying and the stones from the other normal kids had been bad enough. But now even her own sister was beginning to doubt whether or not she was even really human? She had powers too....why deny them and make her big sister suffer for it? Finally having lost the strength to keep going, Catia climbs to the top of a small cliff near Lavaridge's famous volcano. Below her gleamed sharp obsidious rocks, sharp enough to sever her spine and stop her pain forever. As she turned her back to them, closed her eyes and began to fall backwards, a single tear left her eyes that gleamed in the setting sunlight. Finally....everything would be over. Time seemed to slow down to a crawl as she soon felt the rocks cut into her back and through her clothing, the familiar warmth of her own blood spilling out and spreading onto her body. As she finally hit the bottom, her consciousness slips away with the strangest feeling of hitting the rest of her body onto someone's outstretched hands. She didn't have any time to open her eyes and look to see who had stopped her from finally getting rid of her pain.
She was already unconscious.
A day later, she awakens inside of a small cavern on the outskirts of town, a small bed of thin cloth's and a fluffed up pillow underneath her head with a black leather coat serving as her blanket. Her vision hazy, she tries to sit up only to cry out in pain as it surges through her from the freshly created gash in her back. A man comes into the cavernous room, his face thick with roughly groomed beard mustache and very messy brown hair. His eyes were gold and beautiful like the sight of the setting sun. He comes over to her and gently helps her lie back down. He smirks and chuckles at her.
Too much movement and that gash in your back won't heal properly at all.
He commented. He looked so familiar and she couldn't put her finger on it. She asks him his name and the man chuckles again before answering her.
You can't figure that out for yourself? I'm your father Catia. My name's Terran. Terran Grieval.
Instantly she grows enraged and tears begin to fall from her face as she asks him where he's been for so long while she was enduring all of this pain. She hits him in the chest with soft thuds as he loses his smile and carefully picks her up and into his arms to hold her close to his chest. She hits him a few more times softly, her tears flowing greatly as she soon closes her eyes and buries her face into his chest, hiccuping and letting her pain flow out of her into her long lost father's chest. And throughout it all, her father simply holds her closely and strokes her hair. After a while of her crying, he squeezes her into his arms a little tighter as tears fall, not from Catia's eyes but Terran's eyes, onto her shoulders. Then, he whispers the one thing that finally lets her forgive his absence.
I'm so sorry Catia....I promise, I'll never leave you alone ever again. You'll not bear this burden alone anymore. Now, I'm here to share it with you.
Over the next few weeks, Terran and Catia bond quickly. Her healing was painful as her spine had been cut into from the large, sharp rocks and walking was the worst. But finally after three weeks of rest and painful physical rehabilitation, she was finally able to run and explore once again. All the while, Terran was ever at her side, encouraging her and keeping her safe. Another week goes by and a search and rescue team finally finds her, lead by her mother Loria. Loria rushes over to her and hugs her tightly as tears flow like a river from her eyes. All the while, Terran looks on and smiles at the reunion. Then Loria looks at Terran and gives him a teary eyed smile as she mouth's her deepest thanks to her husband for finding her and keeping her safe. The reunion is soon interrupted as they begin to return home to Lavaridge Town. The mountain gives a great rumble and several rocks twice Catia's size begin to tumble down the mountain, barreling towards her and the rescue team. As they run away from the hazard, she trips and falls down, only able to turn her head and stare in fear as one of the boulders comes down and heads straight for her. Just as she shuts her eyes tightly to accept her fate she feels herself picked up and tossed further down the mountain, tumbling to safety. She quickly picks herself up with a cry of pain as her old back wound gives her some trouble, looking back to see who had saved her life. The dust from the rock slide was too much to see through and she could only watch in horror as the disaster finally subsided and she could finally see the shape of the man who had saved her life.
There lay her father, his legs and body nearly having been crushed and pummeled to dust by the rock slide. As she rushes over to her father's side, tears begin to stream from her eyes as she shakes him desperately and tells him to get up. He merely gives her a weak chuckle and reaches up a bloody hand to her face and strokes her cheek with his thumb shakily.
Never forget Catia....your life is precious....never have regrets and never give up....at least then, you'll make something of yourself.
His last words ended with a coughing fit that makes her begin to cry desperately for him to stay awake. But he only chuckles weakly once again as the life begins to flicker from his eyes, using his last breath to say one more thing to her.
Be a good girl....Catia....
His life fades soon after that, leaving her crying and screaming in grief over her father, now lost to her forever.
Years pass. Catia grows up a brawler, always fighting back instead of taking the insults and stones like she had before. Never once did she ever think about giving up like she had back then. And every day since, she had come to her father's grave marker on the cliff side where she had once tried to end her pain. There sat a wooden cross with her old light pink lace ribbon tied onto it and moving with the wind. Every day she came and cleaned his grave marker before becoming overcome with grief and crying again. She kept blaming herself for his death, saying that if she had been stronger it never would have happened. Her little sister Kiria and her mother kept telling her otherwise but she always refused to believe them. It was her fault he had died, no one else's. His death would always be a heavy burden on her shoulders, a burden that would always remind her of the mistakes that she had made in the past. And of the reason that she aspired to grow up and become who she was that day:
Catia Grieval.
