Scientific Notations

I had one shot at what I was going to do. Heart racing, I stopped moving, left hand on the wall behind me.

No. Not yet.

I had to wait for the precise moment. My hand began to sweat as I gripped the hilt of the weapon behind me.

Closer.

"...I'll listen to what you say. Then, I'll decide." I said after a few minutes.

I closed my eyes and breathed. When I opened my eyes, I felt as if everything had slowed down around me. I saw the perfect oppurtunity. Still grasping the dagger, i swung my arm out from behind me as fast as I could. I flinched as I felt the metal hit. Where it hit, I didn't know. I didn't want to. But what I did know, is that this thing....

This thing had to die.

And no one can stop me from killing it.

"With my... powers, that won't be a problem for me," I replied, actually genuinely thankful for the ability. If I could get out, then my luck would take care of the rest... hopefully. It never usually worked in the ways I expected. Like my battle with Shock? I thought I'd somehow be able to kick his can to Kansas, but instead a pack of scientists restrain him. True, I had gotten beneficial results, but I certainly hadn't expected it. Of course, that Leech girl could probably make it, too...

"What's the plan? Riot in the cafeteria?" I snorted and chuckled a bit at the thought. I looked back down at the arena, observing Leech's fighting prowess. "You also said you'd explain her power."

"Well, first thing's first. Leech's codename makes the ability somewhat comprehend-able. When she makes physical contact with another Experiment, she can Shadow Copy their ability. The only difference is that the ability fades if she would absorb another ability." I nodded in acceptance of my explanation. "As for getting you all out of here, your abilities themselves are not enough. The outside of this building has a special field property. I assume you remember that the building was surrounded by grass when you first saw the place. The grass has some sort of chemical that, when in contact with oxygen, causes a chemical to release. That chemical, when inhaled, causes all abilities to remain dormant for hours, depending on how much you breathe into your system. Enough of it had shown the possibility of killing Experiments." I sighed as decided what to say next. "Your ability will help, but your ability alone will not be enough to escape. As you must have realized, your abilities don't work just anywhere. The areas where you are experimented on are just one of the places that your abilities can activate; as was the entrance to the Trial Room below." I looked down at the fight.

The doppelganger swung down the Morning Star, but Leech's forceful thrust caused it to miss. The doppelganger stood in awe for a moment and vanished into a misty substance with haste. The lights then went out. Signaling the end of the trial.

"You should retire to your quarters soon. There is time for just one more question for now."

The dagger fell from my hand as I watched the doppleganger dissapate. My sight went pitch black for a moment as the lights went out. I slowly walked toward the door, unsure of what to do next. Do I just head back to my cell? What about finding a way out of here? Would that even be possible with the security...?

The lights reactivate after a moment, as two guards entered the room. "Time to escort you back to your cell, One-Ninety-Two."

Annnnnnd there goes that thought. Unless.... Unless I could take these guards! I was weighing my options, but I would do anything just to go home....

If I attacked, and succeeded in taking them out, odds are, others would come to their aid. If I attacked and failed, I was screwed....

"Why are you doing this? What do you possibly gain from going against the other philosophers here?" My question was obvious. Yet, I doubted his answer would be easy to describe.

I couldn't help but smile at his curiosity. "I'm just..." I paused for a moment. "I won't beat around the bush. I've been with this organization since the beginning. The sins that we've committed are far too great to find redemption." I sighed. "The reason I'm doing this is not for a 'gain' as you say. I'm doing this because I've decided to finally do the right thing, and this time, I know what that is." I thought for a moment. I thought about all the promises I've broken and the people that are now dead because of my goals. This Paradise never truly existed. I know that now...

The guards took her by her arms and escorted her out.

"Huh..." I was silent again as I watched the guards take Leech out of the arena. Guess it was my cue to leave. I shoved my hands in my pockets, uncomfortable with the smile the philosopher gave off. Creep.

Still... if he was telling the truth? Maybe there was some hope for the experiments. I'd play along for now, mostly because I'd need allies of some sort. No, not allies. Something less personal. I had no intentions of 'buddying up' with anyone here, not even the experiments. But, I would need their strength. Leech would be useful. Maybe if Shock and I had met on better terms, I'd consider him too. It then struck me that I hardly knew anyone here. I guess Mr. Creep would take care of organizing meetings between possible rebel candidates.

"You can sign my name on the dotted line," I said to Rizu.

"I can walk on my own, you know." I hissed, trying to pull my arms out of the guards' grasp.

Maybe I could trip a guard for the hell of it? Eh... What exactly did I have to lose? I don't exactly have any freedom so... I stuck my leg out to the side a bit, hoping to trip the guard to my left.

I smiled again. "Good to have you on board, Lucian." I walked away with approval to his answer. Next step: Recruiting...

The guard tripped slightly, but recoiled upright squeezing Leech's arm. He pulled her to make her move faster.

That was a slight mood lifter. Despite my arm losing feeling... Now I was being half dragged to my cell. Even so, I still glanced around, looking for something that resembled an exit. There had to be someway to get out of this hell hole. I've been here for a year now, taking whats been done to me, and stuffing it into a little box in the corner of my mind. But now... now I was sick of it. I didn't want this. Hell, I didn't want this after the first week! I waited too long to try and escape, but i guess better late then never...

As I left the arena, I saw a platoon of guards ready to escort any other experiments that had decided to watch. I silently joined the group, waiting for the other experiments to join us. One thing was certain.

This place was going to get a LOT more interesting.

The guards arrived at her cell room's door, and activated it with their I.D. card. After throwing Leech inside, they snarled, locked the door, and left to continue their job elsewhere.

I sighed as I walked to my office. Everything was just starting to pick up pace. I have the key this war's success. The next step is the icing on the cake. . . Or rather the dough... I walked into my office and booted up my computer. Who will be the correct candidates for an internal army...

I skidded a few feet on the floor as I was unceremoniously thrown back into my cell. Wincing in pain, i put a hand to my shoulder, rubbing the the brush burn. I looked at my unoccupied hand, trying to think. Even if there was a way to let my family know I was alright, a chance to let them know I'm still around.... I'd take it. With a lonely sigh, I looked up to the ceiling. i didn't understand a thing anymore. Out in the real world, i was able to con my way into the movies, sweet talk the hot dog guy into free food, leech money off of random strangers. But this... this wasn't the real world. This was hell.
