Luna's LARPing Adventure

I will be on leave this weekend due to me and a few others going out to LARP! with other nerds!

I'll post on my adventure when i return, so be on the lookout for my entry!

I believe it stands for Live Action Role-Play: basically role playing in person with others.

SHE'S GONNA HAVE SO MUCH FUN! I would totally try that. I don't know what I'd do, but I would definitely want to try it.
Basically its improve acting, isn't it?

Yeah, it's pretty much improv acting. I've never LARPed, but I've been somewhat interesting in trying it some day!

Ken'shea (Hello) fellow friends, This is Luna reporting in! I have returned from my LARPing adventure, and I would like to share my story with you.


Day 1-

It took place at this place in NJ called Camp DeWitt. It's a beautiful place; and huge! There were areas that we didn't know existed there until the second day! And the night sky was beautiful... I would look up and see all of the stars undisturbed by city lights. The air was crisp and clean, and the people were friendly. Speaking of people, the costuming was incredible! and I never thought I would meet other animal-like races! there were Elves, Orcs, Hound-kin, Cat-folk, humans, even a vampire Duck!! He was a nice fellow, ran the trading post too.

We didn't actually start until around 10:00pm, but when we did start, it was a scream! ...No seriously, one of our fellow NPCs ran up ti the in and let out this blood-curdling scream, crying for help beccause she ran into a small pack of Dragonlings (the rest of us). While she went and hooked the Players , Us in our dragon costuming sneaked up and launched the first of many attacks that would happen that weekend. 

We spent a lot of the time wandering the campground, sneak attacking groups of players as Dragonlings, while also getting a feel of the campground. Then again, it was nighttime, so we couldnt see the camp any ways.


Day 2 (and start of 3)-

 This was the main day. We woke up about 9:45 and stretched and went for breakfast. It was a light but filling breakfast. After that, we went back to NPC-land and awaited further instruction. We ended up wandering again, but this time as Storm and Earth Elementals. Oh the terror that ensued~

 Afterwards, we rested up a bit and I got to be a hook. (A hook is an NPC that spins a story to get Players to follow them to an area to fight monsters) I was a peasant girl who has escaped a Lord who was quite violent. The lord was killed by his peasants and we found a bit that had a paper with writing on it. We simply thought it to be a spell, so we were gonna sell it. The others who had touched the box ended up possessed and I was the one who escaped and went to find help. I went to the Inn and found a couple of players who were part of the Enovy I was searching for; Envoy of the Pendrakkons. They lead me to their camp where I explained the situation. (Here's the fun part.) 

As I was sitting in the trading post, I looked out the window and saw another group of NPC's. I didnt thing anything of it at first, nor did I see Blastion amongst them (He went with me too) A few seconds later, I hear someone shout "EXPLOSION!" and the Players who were gonna help me out ran out to see what was up. I looked out the window again, and THAT'S when I saw Blastion standing there with the other NPC's with this smirk on his face. Here he had planted a bomb and blew up the Player's Refinery! So while the players dealt with that, I ended up sitting in the trading post. And BECAUSE the refinery blew up, The monsters I was supposed to lead the players to ended up getting really buffed. In the end, I was able to lead the played to the location where they were supposed to fight my stuff. I cried over the dead body of my NPC father, and then was put on trial due to conspiracy on killing our Lord.  I was found guilty and then Executed. (I made players feel feels )

Then it was back to being a Dragonling until The main battle was to begin. The fight started at about 1:00am and I ended up being a moderator for the main battle, making sure that everyone was safe, and if shit went down, I could help. After that, I fell asleep in Blastion and mine's tent and didn't wake up til about an hour before we had to leave.

So That was my LARPing adventure. I plan on going back in October and November for a huge event they're doing, and now that I know what to do, I can be better prepared. All in all, It was an incredible and fun experience and I would most definitely do it again. We had to work through a lot of aches, but it was truly worth it. The people were friendly and it was full of action. I definitely recommend trying it out someday.

That's so super cool, Luna!! I'm so glad you guys had fun and it does sound like a big ol' Renaissance fest that the LARP group made up themselves! I know my family and other friends don't ever get into that stuff so I probably can't find anything like that where I live, so whenever we next meet IRL you have to teach me your ways!! >w<
I wish I was there to see you both in action! If you have any scenic shots (with no risk of identity being shown) you should put up any pictures you took in the gallery!!
